Grape, ‘Eastern Concord’

Description

This vigorous deciduous vine features bold, deep green foliage and is cultivated for its fragrant, edible blue‑black grapes borne in medium‑sized clusters. Fruit is ready for harvest from late August through September, and the skin separates easily from the flesh. The twining growth habit makes this vine well suited for covering arbors or training along fences as a natural screen. This plant grows easily in deep, loamy, humus rich, well drained soil but adapts well to other conditions. Water deeply and regularly during the first growing season to help establish a strong root system, then reduce watering once established. Apply fertilizer every six to eight weeks until midsummer. Provide support with a trellis or arbor, and prune annually in winter to manage size and growth. Photo courtesy of Monrovia.
