Description
Onions grow best in a fertile soil that is well drained.A window box, or patio container may be used if you do not have a garden.Always plant in full sun.Green Table Onions – Plant sets with roots down in a row with sets as close as possible to each other and 2 to 3 inches deep.Deep planting produces more white edible stems.Delicious high quality onions will be for harvesting within 3 to 4 weeks.Large Dry Onions – Plant in a row 3 inshes apart and only deep enough so top is barely coverd or just visible.Late in summer when leaves have withered, dig up onions and allow to dry in the open air for a few days.Preserve the onions indoors in a cool dry place.For reference only:
