Grape, ‘Himrod’

Description

This vigorous deciduous vine features bold, deep green foliage and is grown for its clusters of small, completely seedless grapes. The fruit ripens early in the season, developing a crisp, sweet flavor and turning golden yellow when fully mature in summer. It works beautifully as an ornamental vine on arbors or trellises and can also be trained along fences. The grapes are excellent for fresh eating and make a delicious dessert variety. This plant is easy to grow in deep, loamy, humus rich, well drained soil and is adaptable to a range of conditions. Water deeply and regularly during the first growing season to establish a healthy root system, then decrease watering once established. Fertilize every six to eight weeks through midsummer. Provide support with a trellis or arbor, and prune each winter to control size and maintain form. Photo courtesy of Monrovia.
