River Birches have cinnamon– colored, exfoliating bark and yellow fall color. Best on slightly acid sites that are moist to wet, especially going into winter. They’re extremely heat-tolerant, but not drought tolerant, and resistant to Bronze Birch Borer. Moderate to fast growth. Heritage has salmon-brown bark that exfoliates at a younger age than the species. It’s faster growing than the species, and is less prone to leaf spot during wet years.
