Description
PP15815This striking groundcover forms a dense, low-growing mat of glossy, nearly black foliage with softly scalloped edges. The foliage develops its richest color when grown in full sun and cooler conditions. In mid to late spring, upright flower spikes rise 4-6″ above the leaves and display deep blue blooms. These flowers create a bold contrast with the dark foliage, particularly when planted in large groups. Compared to other ajuga varieties, ‘Black Scallop’ spreads more slowly and retains a naturally compact habit. This makes it an excellent option for edging, as well as for use in rock gardens and mixed containers.
