Junipers are Midwestern favorites because of their adaptability to soil conditions and variable climate. They can withstand pollution, drought, and clay soils. Trautman is a columnar, almost spire-like form with coarse-textured, gray-green foliage reminiscent of the Italian cypress. It can withstand heavy pruning, but slow growth rate results in a naturally dense, bushy form.
