Barberries are known for their compact, structured form ranging from bright yellow to deep burgundy foliage colors. They have spines along their reddish stems that allows it to keep a strong, attractive form through all four seasons. This cultivar has an upright, columnar form with bright yellow leaves that persists through the summer. The vibrancy of the color will fade in shadier habits. Barberries prefer moderately dry, well-drained soil; while they suffer in poorly drained, wet soil. They tolerate heavy heat and drought situations as well as a heavily shaded area. Typically used for border and hedge plantings.
